Lanning is the Lanning Centralized Knowledge Repository. It provides a durable, multi-tenant API and MCP control plane for shared knowledge and background work in the Sonny ecosystem.

Where Lanning fits

Recipes describe how Sonny should work: prompts, model choices, orchestration, and tool policies. Lanning provides durable services around that work, including tenant-scoped data, policy auditing, quotas, durable jobs, and an outbox for reliable event delivery.

The mesh coordinates Sonny sessions across machines. Lanning and the mesh serve different roles; using a local Sonny session does not require running every service in the ecosystem.

Source and setup

The canonical Go module is devnw.dev/lanning, and the service entry point is cmd/lanning. Lanning is commercial software. Deployment documentation and API/MCP contracts are provided through your authorized CodePros access. See Licensing and access .

Older documentation may call this service sonny-upstream. Use Lanning for the product name. Existing compatibility names and deployment identifiers must follow the migration guide supplied with your release; renaming the product does not imply renaming every configuration key.
